Salsa

Salsa day! Today we are putting up salsa for the year. Look at the heirloom tomatoes 🥰 Now that’s a meaty tomato! Add some peppers, onions, garlic and spices with a little vinegar and cook! Next put it in hot jars and water bath for 15 minutes. Delicious salsa with pure ingredients!

What a storm!

Thursday evening we had a high wind storm go through our neighborhood. Trees and power lines down.  Fortunately we have a big generator to run the farm and a smaller one to run the house. But the commute back-and-forth to the barn was definitely extended. I had to go 4 miles out of my way to get around downed trees. At the end of the day, all the animals and all the people are safe and well taken care of so it’s just a minor inconvenience.

Back in the Parlor!

Well here we go again! I have missed milk so much I decided to start milking again.  I don't want to be a large commercial dairy and I need my small dairy to be profitable, so herd shares it is. Sadie loves milking the cows with me.  My old employee has offered to do the milking when Sadie and I need to take a break from work and go camping with our horses.  We are feeling very blessed to have things falling into place for us.
